This one is also slightly emotional. Matters of the heart usually are, aren't they? I started out the month with a heavy heart, kinda ripped apart feeling. I realized once again, it's MY fault that happens.
Anyhow, after finally deciding to not torture myself any further, I decided to start this piece. And here is why.....
A heart is fragile (the glass pieces ~ 2 circles and a square turned diamond shape to form a heart). When it gets hurt/broken, we try to repair it (the beads over where the glass does not match up ~ like a band-aid). We try to put a wall up sometimes too, to protect it from further/future damage (the attempted "cab" beading around the heart). Sometimes we leave up our "wall" to save ourselves from being hurt over and over. Hopefully, after a while, we can let pieces of that "wall" fall away, to once again trust (the rings of beads around the heart where the "wall" doesn't seem to look all that great, and the beads in the background) Hopefully this time we let that "wall" weaken or fall with the knowledge of what has happened before. We find the strength from learning from the pains of the past and vowing to ourselves not to let those things happen again (the good part of the "wall"~ LOL).
I didn't mean for this to sound "heavy" emotionally. This is ceratinly not the first time I've gone through these feelings and I'm sure it won't be the last. Like my piece, my walls are weak, they break easily and fall. Someday I think I'll learn my lesson, but then again....maybe not.
On a lighter note....I beaded this on a sleeve of a Hot Pink T-shirt I had laying around. This signifies the fact that I WISH it were warmer already. I am sooooo ready for Spring and Summer here. We get teased too much this time of year by Mother Nature with a few warmer days and we think the weather will break and it'll get warm. Then it doesn't. Hopefully, soon it'll get nice and sunny and warmer...
Well, ENJOY!

Love the hot pink and the "broken" heart. Good on you for starting over --- sometimes that is the best thing to do if you get "stuck"...
I too look forward to spring!
Don't feel too bad, Kelly. I still have a page from my first year with BJP that I went cold on and never finished. I made something else entirely. I liked what I had done, but for some reason I couldn't finish it. This page looks great.
Well, Kelly, lots of us were feeling that pain this month ~lol. Usually when you think of February, Hearts and Love you think happy thoughts. A few of us chose to bead the darker side of the Heart or the painful side of the Heart. I guess this was our therapy because we all feel better now. Don't you?
Moving on now to March and the lighter side of life because in most areas March marches toward the onset of Spring..metaphorically speaking...a fresh beginning.
Why don't you join me in creating a fun March page.
xx, Carol
Yes, on to a happy place! That's where I'm at now....a happier place. For the time being, I have learned my lessons....March will bring better, warmer weather and I'll be beading happy thoughts!
Thanks for the good comments!
Lovely! I had to start over too. ;)
Sometimes it just feels right to let the beads tell our story. Hopefully each bead stitched helped you through a bad time and into the warmer light of the rest of the year.
You are right Penny! Sometimes it just has to be let out. Too bad it had to be my BJP...But onward to happy!!!
It's so true what you've said about matters of the heart and that age-old dilema about the walls we build around it - how protecting ourselves at the same time isolates us. Yikes! Great job of showing it.
On a lighter note, I absolutely LOVE the fact that you are doing your BJP pieces right on clothing that you wear! How cool is that!!!

Beautiful symbolism in your piece, Kelly. Onward to warmer and happier places :-)
I found out the hard way that I can't directly bead my heavy emotions either. I can use beading to soothe the hurt, to center myself again, but I can't bead the negative in my life. And now I'm not sure I really want to afterall. Much better to celebrate the happy in life!
I love the colors in this! Very nice!
